Heather Olson, NCTMB

Nationally and State Certified Massage Therapist

Massage during pregnancy is therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the specific needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the changes of the childbirth experience. A specific table is used allowing for face down positioning. Touch is important to the mother's physical and emotional well being.

Benefits of Prenatal Massage

Helps the body to eliminate waste product which combats fatigue and helps in feeling more energetic. Aids in keeping blood pressure in check by providing increased circulation. Promotes emotional and nurturing touch. Promotes relaxation and decreased insomnia. Provides stress relief on weight bearing joints such as ankles, lower back, and pelvis. Helps to reduce swelling in ankles, hands and feet. Stimulates glandular secretions, which help stabilize hormone levels. Relaxes tense muscles and tones muscles, and can also increase muscular flexibility. Massage used after the birth can help regain strength more quickly and ease postpartum stress.
