Chiropractic care during pregnancy is a wonderful, natural way to address the many physiological changes the mother-to-be is experiencing. An increase in body weight leads to changes in center of gravity leading to posture and gait changes. Hormones released throughout pregnancy lead to ligament laxity, which increases pelvic and lumbar misalignment. Pelvic misalignment can lead to a twisting of the uterine ligaments that hold the uterus in place. This leads to intra-uterine constraint which can have an impact on the baby inside, as it wil not have the optimal room to turn and could result in a breech pregnancy. Many other common pregnancy problems besides low back pain can be treated by chiropractic adjustments. Examples include sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, and numbness and tingling. Chiropractic is also a safe, drugless and non-surgical way to treat many common problems with infants and children. Some of these include tipped or rotated head, colic, difficulty breast-feeding and bedwetting. I have been practicing since February 2006, and my new office, New Beginnings Chiropractic, opened in February 2007. We are a family chiropractic clinic with special focus on pregnancy, infertility, pediatrics, and nutrition. I have started my post-graduate training in pregnancy and pediatric care through the International Chiropractc Pediatric Association (icpa4kids.org). I have also attended a DONA birth doula workshop. Services Offered We offer family chiropractic and treat patients of all ages, infants through grandparents. We use very gentle techniques to provide comfort and safety for pregnant moms and infants. We have special tables and pillows to accomodate the growing belly and provide comfort for tender breasts. I am certified in the Webster Technique, which is a chiropractic technique for pregnant women designed to decrease intra-uterine constraint by adjusting the sacrum and the ligaments of the uterus, and allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth. I have also began post-graduate education in cranial therapy through SacroOccipital Technique. Cranial work is safe, gentle and effective, and is great for pregnant women and infants. We have a lending library full of books on a wide variety of topics.
